Hall not guilty, Valentino guilty

State Attorney Bill Eddins has issued his reports on the Sunshine Law investigations of Pensacola City Councilman Sam Hall and Escambia County Commissioner Gene Valentino.

Eddins ruled that Hall and Valentino did not violate Sunshine Laws when they met at City Hall on April 28, 2009.

However Valentino did violated public records laws by not completely responding to the records request of the Perdido Key residents. This is a noncriminal infraction punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. Valentino will appear in court on August 27 on this charge.

after all his holier than thou talk about whitehead, we see that GV is certainly no better than whitehead and isnt even as effective as a county commissioner.

Yes, it is time for another new commissioner. When oh when will they ever learn that the law applies to them. One shouldn’t have to ask for the documents 4 times and then be lied to that there aren’t anymore. We pay these people’s salary and we need to hold them accountable.

    Good for Sam!

What is the time limit allowed for the County to give you public records which you ask for? Can a lame excuse like”this file was check out and I have turned this place upside down looking for it” good enough for not producing public records.

In my opinion, if Valentino is guilty, Gordon Pike is guilty of “not completely responding to the records request”. I personally ask for public records from one of his departments and was told “it was checked out.”

But, that is nothing new coming from him. Lost public records that is.
