No Boss Mayor stays silent

Still no reports from the No Boss Mayor PAC—-the one who believed a week ago that the voters should know who is backing each political action committee. If you believe that both sides should tell the voters who their backers are, please email the No Boss Mayor folks and let know that public wants to know. Put in your subject line: “No Backroom Deals” or “Please Stay in the Sunshine”.

    Fred,
The CRC did what the city council charged them to do. The Council wasn’t very specific in its desired outcomes. If they wanted something different, any council member, including the mayor, could have made a motion requiring more information or a different format. As far as, No Boss Mayor reporting their finances. THEY sent the draft of the first report and said that THEY wanted to make sure the voter know who is backing each side. I am only asking that THEY follow through with their commitment to openness. I frankly don’t know why they have been so reluctant to being transparent. No Boss Mayor shouldn’t demand open finances of their opponent and then close their books.

  2. Fred says:

The same pockets will fund their strong mayor just like they got their councilman Sam to insist on a charter review.

    Where is the review?

Did Sam notice we got a whole new form of government instead of a review of the existing form.

    Didn’t think so.

Guarantee they will report as required but don’t think the rules require that they report to Rick.

It’s also scary to have the same deep pockets push for what they consider a “good” change.

    Native:
I have actually studied the issue for six years, interviewing some of the top mayors and former mayors from around the South. There is no hook, line or sinker. I was already in favor of a change before any charter was proposed. You can read my writings on this blog and inweekly.net to understand why. And I welcome you challenging any of those positions, but to attack me because you believe I’m part of some conspiracy is ludicrous. Go after my ideas, tell me how I am wrong, find the flaws in my reasoning—–I welcome such a healthy discussion.

I do want to give you the flip side of your last sentence. Any political campaign that focuses on scaring the voters , like No Boss Mayor, and doesn’t discuss the merits of its side is very disturbing, especially when it is led by leaders and former leaders of the city.

  5. Anonaly says:

Why shame on them? Politicians aren’t allowed to participate in local PACs?

  6. Jill C. says:

Clearly, NO Boss should disclose their sources of funding. The tactics of this group are embarrassing. They have sent out such disgusting misrepresentations, they are using as their spokesperson the paid lobbyist for the City. The City council members, most particularly Wiggins, that have come out as part of the NO Boss group should be recalled once the Charter passes! Shame on them for participating in such subterfuge.

  7. Native says:

Knowing that TaxWatch which includes the likes of a ultra liberal and local loony tune like Bob Kerrigan and the power hungry Jim Reaves who wants to control the mayor is more than enough for me my family and friends not to vote for charter or consolidation anything. What we have works, the voters just needs to vote for stronger leaders…not the money makers and back room dealers who currently stink up the system.

Rick, the fact that you’ve swallowed hook, line and sinker the downtown crowds lies and promises of grander is disturbing to say the least….I thougth you were smarter than that. Is that bed big enough for all you guys?

  8. Rick Outzen says:

They will eventually. No Boss said they wanted to do it before it actually was required, at least that was their position two weeks ago. Now they’ve quit releasing information.

  9. Deborah Dunlap says:

I thought PACs were supposed to reveal their donors under the Sunshine laws.
