BTW: DC check deposited Nov. 2

On November 2 when the No Boss Mayor had released its challenge that both sides should tell the voters who is supporting each side of the charter issue, No Boss Mayor already had the $17,000 ICMA check in the bank. The first report was only through Oct. 30. The No Boss apologists see as a wise political move that tricked the PNJ into making a headline out of the challenge while not being open with the voters. For a matter as important as this charter vote, I hate to see such political deceptions used.

As a reminder, here is the Nov. 2 press release from No Boss Mayor:

“The No Boss Mayor Committee is releasing its financial information in advance of the ballots being mailed. The Committee has received contributions ranging from $25 to $3000 from 22 residents of Pensacola, raising just shy of $6,000.

The No Boss Mayor Committee will formally file its report with the Supervisor of Elections Office on Tuesday Nov. 3rd and we call on the Believe in a Better Pensacola Committee to do the same.

This week voters of Pensacola will be asked to determine the future direction of the city. Political financial reporting is generally required in advance of an election so that voters can use the information to help them make their decision. It is often very instructional to see who is supporting or opposing an idea and how deep their pocketbook support runs.

This issue has two clear sides. We believe voters deserve the right to know who is behind each side before the ballots are in their hands.

We have shown who is supporting our No Boss Mayor Campaign. Voters deserve to know who is financially supporting this proposed radical change to Pensacola’s form of government.”

“Also, explain to me how reporting a fact,(the $17,000 contribution contribution from the DC lobbyists), is mudslinging. Did they not receive the donation?”

Did you actually read what I typed or just skim it for the juicy bits? I typed that it “look like” as in “appear”, as in “seem like”, as in “may be percieved as”.

    It is also true.

    “Who cares?????????
The group contributing isn’t going to be doing business with the city.”
Says who? Why did they pony up $17k? Because it makes em feels good?

  3. Observer says:

    Mike:

Why is it that you never respond to questions/comments directed at your previous post, but inly deflect to something else?

Maybe because you have no substantial argument or facts. In other words, you are a lighweight.

Once again, please explain how simply stating a fact is mudslinging?

  4. Mike says:

ha ha ha ha observer or interested observer,

You wish there was only one person !

meanwhile the so called “better” citizens

parade of list of well knowns but non city voters who say they’ll vote yes and that’s your version of honest and forthcoming.

Keep up the name calling . It’s a reflection of the real ideas for your better Pcola . Is your old geezer father gone yet?

  5. Observer says:

    Anony, Anonly, Mike, James:

Pick one name and sticvk with it please. It’s become rather clear this is a controlled/limited conversation between yourself(s).

As for the last Anonly post. If this is such a small time blog with a very limited group of contrubters and readers, why bother with posting here? Why not stick to the favorite geezer psost on PNJ. You level of logic is much better suited for that group anyway.

Also, explain to me how reporting a fact,(the $17,000 contribution contribution from the DC lobbyists), is mudslinging. Did they not receive the donation?

  6. Rick Outzen says:

    Mike:
Would it matter if companies who do business with the city are members of the group? Or city employees? Or former city manager Ed Hinkle? It’s about the No Boss Mayor cover-up and deceiving the voters. At least, the pro-side published its daily deposits. You may not like who contributed, but you saw their names as the funds were put in the bank.

  7. Mike says:

CJ Lewis reports in the PNJ that the Believe folks advertisments have …….Pretend city voters **** Baker, Jane Birdwell, Tom Birdwell, Ron Ellington, Nancy Fetterman, An Hayward, Melinda Hilterbrand, Gary Houston, Robert Lepinay, Van Mansker and John Peacock who are not in the Supervisor of Elections city voter data base.

    But so what, right, John?

  8. Mike says:

    Who cares?????????

The group contributing isn’t going to be doing business with the city.

This is more worrisome than the $10,000.00 chunks thrown in by members of the local developer’s club.

  9. Anonaly says:

At this point, it won’t. All it will look like is mud-slinging dusguised as “fact-telling”. Not that many people really read this blog. It is frequented several times a day by a group of people between their work, their lunch break wi-fi hotspot, and their homes.

  10. Anony says:

Are there objections to any lobbyist group headquartered from outside the area enabling a platform for the promotion of local issues?

  11. jeeperman says:

And 98% of all eligible voters in the city will never hear boo about this $17k deposit. So how is it that the NBM campaign will suffer one iota before tomorrow?

  12. Travis Peterson says:

This was a decent little publicity stunt by the No Boss Mayor crowd. The Believe in a Better Pensacola team called their bluff, and now the NBM folks are paying for it.

NBM wanted to pick a “boogeyman” to beat up on, but it turns out that NBM had one of the biggest boogeymen in American politics – the Washington DC special interest group – funding their entire campaign!

As J Peacock has responded to questions…..So What?
