A digital billboard “snafu” in Mobile has caused quite a stir at WPMI. Newport Television, the owners of WPMI, have suspended General Manager Shea Grandquest and News Director Wes Finley for one week, without pay. The picture below has circulated the Internet, after being posted Wednesday afternoon on Twitter by a driver in the Mobile area.

Wondering why the headline writer escaped WPMI’s wrath. Rotating headlines probably went something like this:
*
Gas prices up around area
Home invasion kills two
Santa arrives at Cordova Mall Saturday
3 accused of gang rape in Monroeville
Tide Rolls over Auburn
Black Friday has retailers seeing red
*
The photo was the static part of the billboard. Headlines rotate every 7 to 10 seconds. If anyone should be in trouble it’s the headline writer. He’s the idiot who came up with them.
I always had a feeling about that Greg Peterson… but Kym Thurman? Say it ain’t so, Kym!
Why would you keep watching!
I feel mentally gang raped every time I watch Fox News.
I doubt rape victims thought it was funny….
Jeeperman, it’s a digital board with constantly updated copy, in other words its a big LED TV, it’s up to WPMI to supple fresh copy. I think the managment was overly sensitive, everyone thought it was pretty funny!
You would think that someone at the billboard company would have confirmed the image/graphics supplied was what WPMI really wanted.
Before they printed it out.
I saw that on twitter last week. Hilarious!
Where’s the ‘snafu?’ I think it’s pretty funny. What they say about news, and most everything else, it is what it is.
Hahaha, did they not envision something like that would happen if you just throw up random news headlines?
