I an one of Trang Huyen’s former teachers and know her to be a very bright, hard working and dedicated young lady. School work always came first with her even though she was involved in many outside activities including her now famous blog. She is very much aware that fashion is not as important as geo-politics or the global economy but it is her passion as well as her hobby. Whatever field Trang decides to make a career I know she will rise to the top and make us all very proud. Well done, Trang. Mrs. N says congrats!

On December 2, 2009 at 3:44 pm you posted “Get over it. Write whatever you want in response, this will be my last post.”

Okay, we were over it, but you come back at get everyone riled up again.

This is a blog, a forum for discussing various issues and happenings. It is not the evening news with Walter Cronkite. If a topic does not pique your interest or if you think it is below your supreme intellectual level, then skip it and go on to something else.

The style industry is just that, an industry, a part of the nation’s commerce system. Large amounts of money are spent on fashion, clothes, etc.

More important, a young person in this community competed nationally and won. That is an accomplishment, whether in the fashion industry or engineering. It shows she has initiative and talent in her field of interest.

Give it a break and quit your whinning.

I think you would be much happier hanging out with Fairchild, Donovan and the others at Village Inn. They love to grouse and complain about anything that resembles progress or success here in our community.

“and think it’s sad that everyone thinks this is news.”

Hmmmm, Pensacola girl wins big national award and is on her way to a great career, nope nothing newsy about that, happens everyday, right? Tell me chupa, are u offended by the subject matter of the fashion blog or the fact the talented young woman is Vietnamese-American? How many national honors have UR kids won? Hmmmm? Would you be so offended if Rick ran a story about a local white boy who won a national award?

  4. Chupacabra says:

Oh, and sorry to disappoint everyone, but I’m not mad or upset at all, though I can see how that is the tone when read by everyone. I just don’t agree and think it’s sad that everyone thinks this is news. Just an opinion, people.

  5. Chupacabra says:

Sad when people are upset with you for wanting to feed your brain with real news. Read a book, people, not fashion blogs. I guess as long as The Hills are on though, you all can turn your heads to the real world.

I almost hesitate to even say that because I have also read quite a few of Betty’s posts and I can already say she is pretty intelligent, even if I don’t agree with everything she says.

  6. Jason Clark says:

Well when you say thatjust I can “write whatever I want” that takes all the fun out of it and makes me feel sad. I’m sorry Chup. I was just having a little go at ya, breaking up the monotony of the day and all…I certainly didn’t mean to upset you.

  7. Dead Guy says:

Chupacabra, we bareley knew thee… thank goodness

  8. Betty says:

Jeeze Lousie! A local kid wins a national award using her brains and computer skills and the old boys club just moans and gets into a snit about it! I bet if a BOY won a national award for his blog about FOOTBALL, they would be attacking Rick and the PNJ for not giving it wall to wall front page coverage. As for fashion having no value, I would like to point out the fashion industry has a multi-biliion dollar economic impact even in hard times.

  9. chip chism says:

    well don’t go away mad….

  10. Chupacabra says:

As stated previously, I wasn’t going to write anything further than my first statement until I was personally attacked. Get over it. Write whatever you want in response, this will be my last post.

  11. Jason Clark says:

“It’s not whining to realize a garbage article for what it is” – Chupacabra

  12. Chupacabra says:

I don’t think a short sentence like “Talk about a waste of a headline” is quite “attacking” it, but thanks for your overanalyzation of a simple comment.

And don’t worry, Joe. I got your sarcasm. Even if you don’t agree with my point, I believe you at least know what I was trying to say.

  13. Jason Clark says:

Well thanks for the complements. I don’t know about intelligent but I do strive to be tolerant of other peoples opinions. For example, if someone were of the opinion that a story about a local girl winning a national contest was news worthy, and then posted a story about that on their blog, I probably would tolerate that opinion and not attack the story and call it garbage..since it’s just an opinion and shouldn’t be attacked. Guess I just get out of line sometimes.

  14. Joe says:

That comment was meant to be light-hearted, BTW. Here, let me put a smiley face to show how un-serious I am about all of this:

    :)

  15. Joe says:

Chupacabra, I am very disappointed that you took the time to type that comment when there is still war and disease going on in this world. Can’t you recognize the things that are really important?

  16. Chupacabra says:

It’s sweet. It’s not newsworthy. It’s interesting how if some people don’t like others’ opinions, it’s negative and pessimistic. I’ve seen your posts on here quite a bit, Jason, and consider you to be quite intelligent and tolerant of peoples’ opinions. It’s just small time Paris Hilton **** and isn’t real news. Nothing has been done. It’s not whining to realize a garbage article for what it is. I wasn’t going to comment any further until I was attacked for my opinion.

  17. Jason Clark says:

Sounds like someone had an extra helping of Grouch Flakes this morning. Sheesh. Let the girl have a freakin moment in the sun. Being negative and unhappy has no intrinsic value either, Mr. Whinypants.

  18. Chupacabra says:

I’m sorry. I just don’t see a “stylish blogger” as news when so many REAL things are going on in this world. The fashion industry is the epitomy of self indulgence and has no intrinsic value to this world. Getting recognized for blogging is not something “fairly” amazing.

  19. Law Guy says:

Actually, Behind the Seams is the name of both a very large fashion boutique located in Hollywood, CA and a national trade organization’s e-magazine. Ms. Huyen’s blog is located at theseams.blogspot.com BUT behindtheseams.com is registered to the California boutique. Since this was a national contest I believe that many who voted for Ms. Huyen thought they were voting for the boutique or the trade magazine. If you read Ms. Huyens blog, she seems to be contributing to the confusion on purpose. Best blog in the country? I doubt it, it is poorly designed and is a horror show of bad layouts, planning and graphics.

  20. Anonymous says:

yeah Derek, I was pulling for ya, too!

  21. Derek Cosson says:

    Hahaha thanks for the support!

  22. psu1earl says:

A young person deos something fairly amazing and you think it’s a waste of a headline? No wonder they are leaving as fast as they can from the do nothing bickering…Do you ever wonder why it says in the bios of famous people “from” Pensacola, and not “living” in Pensacola…I think she has a great future and wish her luck…

  23. Chupacabra says:

Talk about a waste of a headline.
