Last month marked five years for Rick’s Blog. It began as a WordPress blog that I only posted to once or twice a week. Today it’s a demanding monster that is read religiously by people from all over the state with an average of 12,000 page views a day.
In 2008, we established posting rules to curb comments that were bigoted, racist or hateful. The traffic jumped 31 percent. This year, we required readers to use their real names when posting. The comments are down, but traffic has jumped another 20 percent.
