On Saturday, Feb. 5, there will be two events requiring the parking lots on Pensacola Beach. The Double Bridge Run will send 3,000 runners from downtown Pensacola through Gulf Breeze and on to Pensacola Beach. They will be greeted by over a hundred friends and families, groupies, and gawkers. Parking at the Portofino Boardwalk can’t inadequately handle the vehicles associated with the run and cars will spill over into the Casino Beach parking lot.
The Krewe of Nauga Pajama Party and Champagne Breakfast will occur on the same day at 10:30 a.m. at The Dock on Casino Beach. Last year the Mardi Gras event had 700 people paying at the door. Most of the attendees will come from Pensacola and Gulf Breeze.
Oh, the humanity! How can the beach cope with two events using the same parking lots at the same time????
Of course, the answer is to cancel the Double Bridge Run. Mardi Gras has been on Pensacola Beach much longer than the run. Or maybe the SRIA should force the Double Bridge Run to pay for the party.
What a horrible, horrible situation! How can the beach handle these two events on the same day?
