Buzz: Castille to be named city administrator

September 6, 2013

This apparently is the week to drop “interim”—sorry, George, not you though. Mayor Ashton Hayward will be naming Colleen Castille as his new city administrator. She will no longer be an interim. Expect the press release soon.

declining city population, declining ad valorem revenues, ballooning pension expense, huge debt service on CMP and ECUA relocation tab inherited from prior administration – what’s a Mayor to do?

Given the dysfunction in city hall, I wish her all the best — but I can’t imagine how she can salvage this administration. All I can hope for is that she keeps Hayward from doing any more damage to our community than he has already done. Anyone else notice how Hayward’s budget doesn’t cover the cost of pensions? A property tax hike is likely the only solution. This is the result of Hayward spending money like a drunken sailor & giving his buddies no bid contracts, etc.
