Buzz: Cumulus buys WXBM

May 9, 2012

To build out its Pensacola, Florida holdings, Cumulus Media is acquiring “Soft Rock 94.1” WMEZ and “Your Country” WXBM at 102.7. The seller is Albany, NY-based Pamal Broadcasting, which exits both the Pensacola market and the state of Florida. The existing Cumulus cluster in Pensacola is urban AC “Magic 106” WRRX and the newly-made simulcast of talk WCOA-AM/FM at 1370 and 100.7. The transmitter locations for Pamal’s WMEZ and WXBM are very close to Cumulus-owned Mobile-market WABD at 104.1 and WBLX at 98.3.

Is a format change planned for WXBM or WMEZ?

i might not agree with the 1620 people on…well…anything…but they are nice decent guys and gals…unlike the cretins on weby…i swear…when i listen to the local 1330 shows i have to check my calendar to see if it is 2012 and not 1953….

Wrong! Dave and Mary Hoxeng of Pensacola own and operate daily WYCT-Cat Country and WNRP-News Radio.

Cat Country 98.7/News Radio AM1620 are both locally owned and operated by ADX Communications.

The owners are very involved in the community.

isn’t the WEBY brain trust locally owned and operated?

The only locally owned and operated radio station in Pensacola is WUWF!

    • Rick Outzen May 10, 2012 at 7:18 am

Isn’t WUWF owned by UWF which is owned by the State of Florida?
