Buzz: No more new schools

March 16, 2012

According to my sources, the Escambia County School District Watchdog Committee was told yesterday that there will be no more new schools for awhile once Suter Elementary and Ward Middle are constructed. IF this is true, then the much-discussed and long-planned west K-8 school has fallen completely from the district’s capital improvement, even though that proposed school was used to convince voters to approve the referendum for the local option sales for the schools.

It’s amazing that Gerald Boone and Jeff Bergosh are not fighting for the children in their districts. Ahh, but they aren’t for re-election until 2014.

Well put North Escambia Risident it shows again no thinking coming from the highly paid administration that we as taxpayer fund. It looks like all that college money they spent on themseleves was just plainly wasted Maybe we need to pull Sam Walton out of the grave and let him teach Escambia School District higher ups how to run a business. He only had a high school education and he built Wal-mart

Why are we building K-8 Schools? We built one in the northend of the county and it is not being used as one. Molino Park has 2 wings of the school that are not being used as classroom. They are being used as – Hearing Clinic, YMCA After-School Care, Full Kitchen for Teachers, and other Misc Uses.

Ransom Middle is over capacity. Ernest Ward has room for more students. Why can’t we eliminate Ernest Ward and put 6th Graders in Molino Park.

Put 7th and 8th Graders in Northview that also has space to grow.

The District needs to look at better way of using the Capital Improvement and Lottery money.

    Just asking?

Does this surprise you. Wait till 2014 an see whet the next new school will be built. That’s the good Old boy system with in the district.

Think you mean they are NOT fighting for the kids in their districts. The entire board are toothless lapdogs for Malcom.
