Escambia County

Buzz: Purge coming at School District

March 5, 2009

There are rumblings that Escambia County Superintendent Malcolm Thomas will be moving his people into Administration. Several Jim Paul people will be not have their contracts renewed or will be demoted. Some of the changes should be expected. Thomas made no big staff changes when he took office and kept most of the administrators in place.

Of course, Public Defender James Owens took a completely track – firing and hiring in droves.

Sheriff David Morgan made personnel shifts. He didn’t renew the contracts of several of McNesby’s key administrators. However, he did keep a few.

I learned enough in escambia county public schools to get out of town, now if I might just stay out of Iraq.

The same tired ‘ole Jim Paul play book! If you counted the huge signs held up during Mr. Thomas’ campaign rally, one may calculate costs associated with upcoming contracts. About $1K for each sign holder, including Ms. teachers’ Union–approximately $2.8M. He also failed to comply with the sign statute. Talk about quid-pro-quo and he had to close Carver-Century to keep campaign promises. Escambia County citizens must protest in front of the Hall Center and School District to let their opposition voice be heard–loud and clear. This is the biggest fraud of all time! And he cares about education??? RIGHT!!!!!

Its about time; the district is top heavy with too many adminstrators, he talk about his new ideas but he has yet changed one thing, other than give his admin staff longer lunch hours

Maybe Thomas should pay them to leave like the county — NOT! I am so offended by the county’s incentive program. It could have been done without expending additional funds. Honor the contracts these employees entered into but otherwise, let them go.
