Century: Drug Capital?

February 10, 2012

Century and north Escambia county have had two drug busts this week. NorthEscambia.com has covered both of them. A rolling meth lab was shutdown on Tuesday night. Yesterday three Century residents — a mother and her two sons — were arrested for running a drug operation out of a trailer.

Over three years, we wrote about the challenges in Centuryand its drug problems that it has been battling for decades. It’s still a problem.

…and the cow strangler is still on the loose.

Damn…that cow strangler has been on the down low for a while now! Guess he still has some steak left in the freezer.
On a more serious note, Meth addicts are more difficult to deal with than any other drug addict. I had a family member stuck on this stuff. I had to get him arrested at age 19 and put in the drug program. He was tested daily, had to go to NA and hold down a job. The boy couldn’t get a haircut unless is probation officer ok’d it. He had to be accounted for every second of the day for 2 years or go to prison for 10 years. It also helped he worked for me so I could keep my eyes on him. He has been clean for 3 years now. It took the first year just to get him to think halfway straight. Now he has just bought his first home!
Long story but could possibly encourage a family member that is watching meth kill there loved one. Call law enforcement. If there lab blows up its putting everyone around them in danger. They will not get clean by choice….It will be because of death or jail.
