Citizens organize to stop new interim county administrator

November 14, 2012

Commissioners Gene Valentino, Kevin White and Wilson Robertson aren’t finding overwhelming support for their hiring of former County Administrator George Touart. A group of citizens will be attending on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m. the public forum in the Board of County Commissioners chambers to protest against the hiring of George Touart as Interim County Administrator.

Organizers are asking citizens to sign up to speak. Read more on their Facebook page.

I will be at the 4:30 pm Public Forum meeting to speak out against the hiring of Touart. I hope that others here who also disagree with this decision will come out and show the commissioners that we don’t want to go back to that craziness!

The article in the latest Independent News with Randy Oliver shows the real contrast between who these commissioners got rid of and who they have deliberately chosen.

I have yet to see a reasonable explanation for why Oliver was fired! The things that he may have done to anger those three commissioners that voted for his ouster and then turned around and hired Touart can’t possibly be as egregious as all the controversy and shenanigans that surround George Touart!

All three commissioners know what Mr. Touart is about. Commissioners Valentino and White have expressed as much to my neighborhood. Of all the talented people in the Pensacola area, going back to a George Touart administration is taking a BIG STEP backward!

They would have maybe had more success in convincing me if they had chosen anyone else or even stayed with the assistant administrator, Larry Newsom, if they were really serious. But spending more taxpayer money to install Touart for reasons Valentino told me were “personal” and that he would not air to the press is outrageous!
It smacks of a pre-planned power grab that the citizens must push back on. Please come out and protest tomorrow night! We can at least have a voice in local politics. Whether they will listen is their choice.

This (citizens/taxpayers unite ) is the beginning of displaying a Representative Republic in action…one can hope.
And the Press is with the taxpayers on this one.

It appears the city council’s ineptness will take a back seat to the county’s for a couple of days.

And businesses should expand or re-locate here why?
