County code enforcement

February 22, 2008

The 2007-08 budget for code enforcement is $2,454,000. It’s funded by fines and fees ($1,654,000), General Fund ($300,000) and Solid Waste ($500,000).

Two years ago the budget was $1,296,349.

Hmmmmm – budget has doubled. Must be tremendous pressure to collect fines.

Has anyone on a tight budget ever tried to rent a dumpster to clean up? My goodness! The landfills and truck drivers must not be hurting at all. Give us a price break on this type of thing. Please. It just may work. Even once a year would help. My ex left leaving all kind of JUNK and I simply cannot afford to get rid of it.

Thank you Mike for your response and a different approach to file an anonymous tip for code enforcement .
    However,
Your response does not answer the specific question.
    Which was:
So why did the county stop accepting anonymous tips of code violations at http://tinyurl.com/2epvzd
    ????????????????

    Anonymous,
Anonymous tips for code enforcement are run through the respective commissioner’s office. I have been doing this for years and it allows us to somewhat monitor if it is becoming a neighborhood dispute. You should be given instructions to that effect if you call code enforcement and try to do an anonymous tip.
