Gulf Breeze Loan Pool blasted in Century

January 6, 2009

Someone is circulating flyers in Century blasting the Gulf Breeze Loan Pool. It claims the City of Gulf Breeze and its loan program are under investigation by the Department of Justice.

Matt Dannheisser, Gulf Breeze’s attorney, has responded, “Although there is currently an ongoing nationwide Department of Justice investigation of various major players in the public finance industry (e.g., underwriters, insurers, financial advisers, derivative providers, etc.), neither the Town of Century nor the City of Gulf Breeze nor Capital Trust Agency are involved in the investigation and there has not been the slightest assertion of wrongdoing on their parts.”

See the flyer and read more on NorthEscambia.com.

FYI: Authorities have been investigating what appears to be collusion in the multibillion-dollar market. Read The New York Times article at:

This is being seriously talked about all over Gulf Breeze. My daughter in New York called us about this being on their news. Something big must be happening…

I am curious as to who the players are in those bond dealings. It looks like there is a high level of sensitivity on the issue. There are definitely more questions that need to be run to ground. I am going to watch this play out.

i wouldnt know about a statute of limitations although i think there probably is one but i absolutely agree about the attorney

I don’t think the age issue is relevant because there is no statute of limitation to toll, but that city attorney has a major conflict of interest issue. That much is loud and clear.

i just dont see it exploding. it’s cozy and it looks bad but these articles, it turns out, are years old. it’s better to be lucky than good and they are. maybe we should buy lotto tickets in gulfbreeze.

That powder keg was waiting to explode for years. Too much money with no oversight and now famous kickbacks, secret agreements, etc. Boom!

The cockroaches are running for cover….

it’s not as though the loan pool acts in such a way as to instill confidence. the city attorney for century is also the city attorney for gulf breeze and atone time also the attorney for the loan pool. maybe it’s all legal the appearance is so cozy the gulf breezers cant complain if the public gets alarmed. google capital trust agency and make your own conclusions. a little more transparency would give them an easier ride.
