Jaden Markes in hospice

The Daily News reports that Jaden Markes, who has been at the center of the recent child neglect controversy that turned out to be brain disorder, is back in the custody of his mother, Erin, but is in hospice at West Florida Hospital.

The 4-year-old boy’s medical condition – the Miller-Dieker Syndrome, a subset of the genetic brain disorder lissencephaly – is terminal.

    Markes’ boyfriend, Jonathan Pinckard, said Monday that the custody decision was good news.
    “Things are finally starting to look better,” he said, adding that the family had planned to keep Jaden in hospice care, anyway.
    “It’s the best place for him,” said Mark Roadman, Markes’ stepfather.

    Why can’t he have hospice care at home if that’s what his mom wants? A hospital is an unhealthy environment.
