Miller wants BP to escrow funds

May 3, 2010

Congressman Jeff Miller is worried about the impact of cleaning up the BP oil spill will have on local governments that are already operating under tight budgets. Miller told us at the press conference at the Escambia County EOC that plans to work the Congressional delegation from the other Gulf States and the White House to pressure British Petroleum to place money in an escrow fund that local and state governments can use to pay for the clean-up efforts.

When asked, Miller said the fund should start a $1 billion.

What is this we hear of our local wildlife being called off and a Delaware company handling cleanup? Shouldn’t the locals who know handle the cleanup? What about putting to work all of us who have just been shut down? C’mon BP Man Up!!!!

We need to put the congressman into escrow, forever…Coastal folks need help, not from some peanut farmer who wants more oil wells in Gulf water off our white sandy beaches.

Too little, too late from Mr. Miller. Surely there is someone better to represent the first district.

Which side of his face was moving, did you happen to notice?

Miller from August 3, 2008: “I continue to support drilling in the Gulf, and will work for you to make this happen.”

I hate to think of what we would be going through right now if Jeff Miller (R-FL) would have gotten his way.

Political grandstanding. It is what Mr. Miller does best.
