The Town of Century is locked in a battle with Pensacola Energy Services, the city of Pensacola’s gas utility. PES has been providing natural gas to businesses and schools inside Century’s franchise area.

NorthEscambia.com reports that Century Mayor Freddie McCall has invited Pensacola Energy customers in North Escambia to a BBQ dinner. Century staffers have been door to door to explain the franchise disagreement to those customers.

The disagreement surfaced when Century sought a franchise extension from the Escambia County Commission for a geographic area that spans from the Escambia River westward to almost the Perdido River and from the Alabama state line southward to near Bogia. The commissioners have asked the two municipalities to work it out.
