Sanford Police Chief Steps Down… for now / Superintendent of Schools Weighs In

As protest of the killing of 17 Year Old Trayvon Martin rages on in South Florida, the Miami Herald is reporting this afternoon that the embattled Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee is temporarily stepping down. He still stands by his actions, but feels his role has become a “distraction” at this time.  READ

Meanwhile, from a Miami New Times story: The Superintendent of Schools in Miami-Dade weighed in on the debate:

“As Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, a father, and an American, I am heartbroken and deeply disturbed by the senseless and untimely death of one of my students, one of my children, Trayvon Martin… The apparent failure of authorities to properly investigate such a death is utterly unacceptable.” READ FULL REPORT at
