Connecting the Community features property insurance follow-up
Connecting the Community, a public affairs program produced locally at WSRE-TV, will air a one-hour special program concerning the growing property insurance crisis in Florida. This special, scheduled to air 7 p.m. Thursday, August 17, is a follow-up to a July 20 investigative program and will feature a panel of experts on the issue.
“Florida’s insurance industry is facing a dilemma that doesn’t appear will be resolved any time soon,” said Tony Ferguson, the show’s producer. “All property owners likely have some level of concern about the future of their coverage, and rightly so. By bringing together this expert advisory panel, we hope to offer guidance and possible solutions that policyholders may not find elsewhere.”
The experts chosen for the panel are Steve Burgess, Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate; Cliff Long, Consumer Outreach Coordinator for the Florida Department of Financial Services; Florida Representative Don Brown who is a member of the insurance committee and was recently appointed to Gov. Bush’s Property and Casualty Insurance Reform Committee; and Don McMahon, President of McMahon-Hadder Insurance and current Legislative Chair of Professional Insurance Agents of Florida. These experts will offer their advice to northwest Florida property owners experiencing their insurance problems. Viewers are encouraged to call with their dilemmas.
