Bring your paddleboard or anything that floats and join in the fun of the 2011 “Paddle for a Cure†on Saturday, Oct. 8, on Little Sabine Bay on Pensacola Beach. Sponsored by Fitness Onboard in partnership with Sacred Heart Foundation, this event will benefit the treatment of Sacred Heart patients dealing with pancreatic and colon cancer.
The paddle course will be open from 9 a.m. to noon and will be located behind Fitness Onboard, 165 Ft. Pickens Rd. (across the street from Margaritaville Hotel.) At noon, additional activities include a fish fry, silent auction for a Jimmy Buffett autographed Fitness Onboard t-shirt, $2 raffle tickets for great donated items and gift certificates and a drawing for a stand-up paddleboard. Tickets for the drawing are $10 each.
Cost to participate in the paddle course is a donation of $50/person, which includes the fish fry and T-shirt. Spectators may pay $10 and enjoy the fish fry, too. A limited number of paddle boards will be available for use, and free lessons will be provided by Fitness Onboard instructors to first-time paddlers. All participants are required to attach to their equipment a life vest/personal flotation device.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at $1,000, $500, $250 and $100 gifts. Sponsorship packages include participant and/or fish fry registrations, recognition on T-shirts, banners, signage, the Fitness Onboard Web site and media. In addition, personalized “In Memory Of†and “In Honor Of†yard signs are available for $25.
