2006 CAFR report is in

CAFR stands for “Comprehensive Audited Financial Report.” It’s available online at Escambia County Clerk of Courts site.

Some interesting finds:

Unreserved General Fund has jumped from $15.14 million in 2002 to $36.56 million in 2006 – $21.42 million increase.

Residential property assessed values totaled $5.4 billion in 1997. In 2006 the total was $15.8 billion

Population has increased 9,374 since 1997, but public school enrollment is down 3,580.

Since 1997:

Federal employees have dropped 10,641 people.

Local government is up 7,586.

State employment is up 1,974.

The following were listed in our top 25 employers in 1997, but no longer make the threshold (250 employees):

First Date Corp (1100), NYCO (600); Westinghouse Electric (600); Vanity Fair (600); Bell South (555); Fluor-Daniel Construction (504); Starter (330); Air Products (320); CYTEC (300); Pacer Industries (288); Russell Corp (280).

However overall employment is up 10,650. New employers:

West Corp (800), Navy Federal (700), Talk America (582), SMG Food Services (475), DANA Coupled Products (300). GE (250), Wayne Dalton (400), CHCS Services (406)
