2016 Mayor’s Cup Golf Classic

Mayor Ashton Hayward and the City of Pensacola have announced the 2016 Pensacola Mayor’s Cup Golf Classic will be Oct. 7 at Osceola Municipal Golf Course. All proceeds from the event benefit The First Tee of Northwest Florida.

The annual Mayor’s Cup event is a four-person scramble with a double shotgun start at 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM and is open to all players. The cost is $85 per individual or $300 per foursome if you register by the early bird deadline of Sept. 23 and includes free beverages and food, a tournament shirt, gift bag, and morning & afternoon awards ceremonies.

“I’m hoping for another great turnout for Mayor’s Cup this year,” said Mayor Hayward. “This is a win-win event that benefits The First Tee of Northwest Florida and showcases our gorgeous golf course at Osceola. I encourage Pensacola golfers to join me and help The First Tee as they continue to impact lives of young people here in our community.”

The First Tee is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to positively impact the lives of young people through the game of golf. The mission is based on “The Nine Core Values:” honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. Over the past 13 years the Northwest Florida Chapter has established programs at 15 area golf courses and area schools throughout Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties.

“Our Chapter held its first class at Osceola Golf Course in 2004, so the City of Pensacola has been our partner in our mission to teach Golf Skills and Life Skills to our area youth since day one.” said The First Tee of Northwest Florida Executive Director Marty Stanovich. “The City of Pensacola has had a long-standing commitment to golf and to our city’s youth, and I want to thank Mayor Hayward, the staff of Osceola Golf Course and all of our friends in the city who make this event happen each year.”

Participants can find registration information online at www.thefirstteenwflorida.org. Sponsorship opportunities are available ranging from $100 (tee signs) up to $1,500. For more information, interested parties can contact The First Tee of Northwest Florida at (850) 456-7010
