Fiesta of Five Flags today announced the 2016 Pensacola Seafood Festival entertainment lineup.
Smithfield, one of the country music scene’s newest additions, will be kicking off our Friday night in Bartram Park. Smithfield debuted their single, “Nothing but the Night,†on the SiriusXM The Highway’s Top 30 Countdown at #12. Two Texas natives, Trey Smith and Jennifer Fiedler, make up this duo. CMT recently named Smithfield to their 2016 Artist Discovery Initiative program, as well as premiered the music video for their single “Good Ol’ Days,†worldwide. You can catch them on our main stage, Friday, September 30th at 7:00p.m.
Leading off our Saturday night entertainment will be the Quaker City Night Hawks, a southern rock band based out of Texas. Quaker City is influenced equally by ZZ Top and science fiction, by putting a new spin on older artist’s inspiration. Quaker City also takes inspiration from their travels, history and their growth into adulthood. You can see them in Bartram Park, Saturday, October 1st at 5:00p.m.
Following the Quaker City Night Hawks will be the afro-pop/indie-rock band, The Hip Abduction of St. Petersburg, Florida. The sextet places emphasis on African stringed instruments mixed with dub-reggae bass lines and funky afro-beat percussion, making for tropically influenced high-energy performances. Their self-titled album debuted at #5 on the Billboard charts.
Rounding out our Saturday night is our headliner, Moon Taxi. Moon Taxi, the mega popular Nashville-based band, takes the stage from 9-10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. Playing over one thousand shows and releasing three albums since their start in 2006, Moon Taxi has gained a large fan base. Their most recent album, Daybreaker, is also known as their most relatable. “You can hear fingers moving, breathing and all the other subtle sounds that one would hear at a live performance,†says keys player Wes Bailey.
Over the past 10 years, Moon Taxi has appeared on late-night television programs, The Late Show with David Letterman and Conan, as well as on various television and commercial spots, including: BMW, Nashville, MLB, NFL and HBO Sports. In most recent years, they have become a festival favorite at Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.
The Pensacola Seafood Festival begins Friday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. in downtown Pensacola’s Seville Square, Fountain Park and Bartram Park.
