2022 Gumbo Cook-off Results

Seville Quarter’s annual Gumbo Ya~ya benefiting Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Florida was held on Saturday, April 9, 2022.  Over $3,400 was donated to our local Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. The Cook-off was coordinated by Paula Shell, Executive Director of BB/BS, and Buck Mitchell from Seville Quarter.  Twelve teams competed in this year’s event.

Winners in the Judge’s Category were:
1st Place – The Happy Pig – Mark Thornton, Captain
2nd Place – Krewe of DePez – Jason Singletary, Captain
3rd Place – Maria Seafood’s Olde East Hill Grill – Mike Valin, Captain

In the Showmanship Category (decoration, theme, and spirit) the winners were:
1st Place – Peace, Love and Gumbo, Aja Barrett – Captain
2nd Place – Maria Seafood’s Olde East Hill Grill, Mike Valin – Captain
3rd Place – Crewe De Roux, Mitch Miguez – Captain

And in the coveted People’s Choice Competition:
1st Place – Krewe of DePez, Jason Singletary – Captain
2nd Place – Escambia Bay Homebrewers, Jim Martin – Captain
3rd Place – West Florida APA Sea Pirates, Butch Correll – Captain
