Escambia graduation rate up, but still below state rate

More high school students received diplomas this year in Florida, according to a report released yesterday by the Florida Department of Education.

FDOE shows 75.6 percent of Florida’s high school seniors graduated this year. That’s up ten percent from 2009 when Florida’s graduation rates were among the lowest in the country. Out of the state’s 74 public and special school districts, Escambia is ranked 61 with 64.2 percent of its seniors graduating, an 8 percent increase over five years ago.

Escambia has improved its ranking among the other Florida school districts under Superintendent Malcolm Thomas: 2009-10 #67 ; 2010-11 #67 ; 2011-12 #65 ; 2012-13 #61
