World of Beer (WOB) Palafox, a beer-centric tavern known for an extensive collection of craft brews from around the world, will host a fundraiser to support victims of the recent typhoon in the Philippines. The event will take place Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 2pm – 7pm at World of Beer Palafox, located at 200 S. Palafox Street in Pensacola, Florida.

WOB Palafox saw a great need for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The survivors of this storm – world’s strongest category 5 storm in history – lost homes, loved ones, and many possessions. By raising money for the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund, WOB Palafox hopes to make a difference in the lives of these survivors and provide for them what they had lost.

“This cause is very near and dear to our hearts, as I was born in the Philippines, lived there for 10 years and speak the language fluently,” said Stacy LaFon, wife of WOB Co-Founder Matt LaFon. “My mother and I are personally funding trips to the Philippines to oversee and witness the use and distribution of the raised funds to the people who need it most- the actual victims of Typhoon Haiyan.”

For this event, WOB Palafox will be serving Filipino food at $5 per plate, and will host activities such as face painting and a bounce house. This is a family-friendly event and will feature live music acts throughout the day. WOB Palafox will be partnering with St. Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, FL in order to wire the proceeds directly to local churches in the Philippines.

Feast on a plate full of Filipino delicacies and wash it down with a bottle of San Miguel, the leading beer of the Philippines. 100% of the sales from the food and San Miguel beer will be donated to the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund, and 25% of sales will be donated from draft beer purchases. Enjoy the best food, beer and live music in town while supporting a great cause.
