350 Pensacola is hosting “Black is the New Green: A Biochar Demonstration.” In this hands-on presentation, Neil Richards will introduce biochar, discuss its benefits, and show participants how to make their own.
Biochar, a type of charcoal, can be made simply and cheaply from any organic material. It can improve soil health and resilience in crop production, and may be one of our best defenses against climate change, through sequestration of carbon in the soil.
This presentation is one in a series addressing environmental issues presented throughout the year by 350 Pensacola. The meeting is free and open to the public. Participants who would also like to participate in the potluck lunch may bring a dish. For more information, email 350pensacola@gmail.com.
