From 350 Pensacola:

Last week, more than 50 people attended a presentation by Mayor Patsy Parker of Perdidio Beach, AL. In November 2013, Parker was selected as a member of President Obama’s Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience. Parker spoke on how her community is smartly planning for climate change and of her work on the task force.

In the days following Mayor Parker’s presentation, the support for a Pensacola climate change task force has grown, with many expressing the need for Pensacola to join other cities with comprehensive plans for the future. As the Pensacola City Council is set to consider the creation of a climate change task force this week, several prominent local organizations have issued letters of support. Those groups include:

U.S. Green Building Council, Northern Gulf Coast Chapter
American Institute of Architects, Northwest Florida Chapter
Frances M. Weston Audubon Society
The League of Women Voters of the Pensacola Bay Area
Council of Neighborhood Association Presidents of Pensacola (CNAPP)
