PENSACOLA–At the eighth annual AHERO Warrior Hook-Up Pensacola Beach, participants shared their struggles with PTSD and other health issues in a testimonial journal. With the permission of those who transcribed their struggles, we are sharing some of the journal entries in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month. Readers can comment and maybe add to the story.
“This year helped remind me that true humanity still exists & lives on the hearts of good people. This came at a pivotal time in my life where I had given up on the reality that real people who truly cared still existed. Please never quit doing what you do! You may never know how much good you are doing but know this–a simple silent smile on the face of one those veterans may enough to change that person’s life forever. You’ll never get the recognition you deserve, but always remember you matter more than you know.â€
