The City of Pensacola kicks off its 2026 Mayor’s Neighborhood Cleanup program this Saturday, Jan. 31, with the first event targeting downtown and portions of surrounding neighborhoods.
Residents in the designated cleanup area can take advantage of the free service to dispose of bulk items they might not typically be able to discard through regular trash pickup. Please see the cleanup map for details on whether your address is included in this weekend’s collection area.
When and How to Participate
Sanitation Services customers within the cleanup boundaries must place eligible items curbside by 7 a.m. Saturday morning. However, don’t set items out too early—the city asks residents to wait until Wednesday, Jan. 28 or later to place materials at the curb.
Important: Items left outside the designated cleanup area will not be collected, even if placed at the curb.
What’s Accepted
This cleanup focuses on bulk items only—regular garbage and yard waste will not be picked up.
Eligible items include:
- Household appliances and electronics
- Furniture and mattresses
- Household junk and debris
- Carpeting
- Barbecue grills (propane tanks must be removed)
- Bicycles and toys
- Tires
- Old paint and paint cans
What’s NOT Accepted
Several items are prohibited from the cleanup program:
- Building materials (concrete, bricks, blocks, roofing, drywall, or more than one cubic yard of lumber)
- Household or pool chemicals
- Herbicides or pesticides
- Explosives or ammunition
- Auto parts
- Dirt or sod
- Propane tanks
- Regular garbage or yard trash
Placement Guidelines
Residents should keep tires and paint cans separate from other debris. Don’t place piles underneath low-hanging utility lines or near poles, fences, or mailboxes, as this can interfere with collection.
About the Program
The Mayor’s Neighborhood Cleanup program runs from January through October each year, with all city neighborhoods receiving one cleanup during that period. Along with Sanitation Services collecting curbside items, Code Enforcement conducts a sweep of each cleanup area to address any code violations.
