Democrats:
Liz Campbell: High name recognition. Ran a strong race against Holly. Front runner for Dems – unless Dee Dee Ritchie enters the race
John Jerralds: Has strong standing in the black community, Pensacola City Councilman.
Larry B. Johnson: Lost to Marty Donovan in 2004 for Pensacola City Council. Strong environmental record. Successful businessman.
Dee Dee Ritchie: Well known in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze (State teacher of the year while teaching at Gulf Breeze High School). Could attract big bucks for her campaign. Would have the support of several black ministers. But why would she want to get back into politics?
Republicans:
George Scarborough: brother of Joe. Has money support of Collier Merrill and friends. Knows how to run a campaign. Scarborough name will help in a short race.
Clay Ford: Gulf Breeze mayor pro tem; former Florida League of Cities president – which will attract statewide campaign dollars; vigorous campaigner.
Jack Nobles: Pensacola City Council; well-known Pensacola family – sister is a judge; could personally finance his campaign.
Lyn Hart: Realtor/developer. Had already filed for the post – July, 2005. Did he know something others didn’t?
