Escambia County Superintendent of Schools Malcolm Thomas has set a five-year record for the most expulsion recommendations in a single month: 22 in August 2010. The previous record was 18 expulsion recommendations by Superintendent Jim Paul in November 2007.
For the first semester (August-December 2010), Thomas has recommended 45 expulsions, more than double last year’s 20 expulsions for the same period. He falls five short of the high of 50 for the same five months set by Paul in 2007.
