Industries fight EPA water regs

Orlando Sentinel reports the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s attempt to force Florida to clean up its ailing streams, lakes and coastal estuaries has triggered fierce backlash from industry. The biggest controversy is over how much it would cost to implement new pollution limits.

National Research Council has a launched an independent study of the issue. It’s final report will be issued in about 18 months. Meanwhile expect state lawmakers to continue to cater to the lobbyists and pass more bills to block the new regulations.
