Hayward proposes a reduction in Sanitation surcharge

Mayor Ashton Hayward is recommending to the Pensacola City Council a reduction in the sanitation fuel surcharge from $2.10/mo. to $1.50/mo. beginning Oct. 1. The Council will consider it at Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.

The agenda for the COW is relatively short. The council will vote to renew the terms of several advisory board members and appoint a few replacements. It will look at the plans for a proposed Panda China restaurant on Airport Blvd. between the Tom Thumb Store and TGI Friday (in front of Sam’s Wholesale Club).

The one item that might draw debate is the renewal of the interlocal agreement between the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the City of Pensacola that pays the City to manage the CRA. There has been some buzz that few council members might want to have the CRA hire its own director and staff.

If there is no CRA debate the COW meeting could be over in 30 minutes. Any one want to predict how long the meeting will last?
