Mediacom & Fox continue to haggle

Santa Rosa County is still without WALA/FOX 10, or those who are Mediacom customers. So they missed the Emmy’s, NFL-NFC football and much more for the entire month of September. IN reporter Jeremy Morrison didn’t get very far in finding out how the negotiations are going:

Who knows how long it will be until local Mediacom customers are able to watch the Simpsons again.

“That’s not a question I can answer,” said Fox 10 General Manager Elven Hale. “We are continuing to negotiate with Mediacom and have been since they pulled us off a month ago.”

Mediacom is currently haggling with Fox over finances. Elven suggested that Florida customers within Fox 10‘s coverage switch to a satellite provider if they wanted to continue viewing the network.

No one with Mediacom could be reached for comment.

“I seriously doubt that anyone that’s involved in negotiations will tell you where it stands,” Hale said.

Networks periodically negotiate new agreements with providers. The Mobile-based station manager said that Fox has reached agreements with all other cable providers.

“With the exception of Mediacom,” he said. “It is the lone hold out.”

Hale did say that Mediacom subscribers could still tune in to Fox 10’s newscasts as they are broadcast live on the Web. Most news segments are also available for viewing anytime on the Internet.
