A More ‘Walkable, Bikeable’ Pensacola

An environmental group will implore the Pensacola City Council to implement policies that foster a more sustainable city.

Sustainable Gulf Coast/Pensacola 350 will present A Citizen’s Proposal: Global Problem, Local Solutions. The group would like to see the city adopt strategies that “ensure Pensacola’s future health and resilience,” according to a statement.

The proposal calls for Pensacola to join other cities with an eye for the future, as they “reverse the sprawl of the past four decades and are more competitive in attracting creative young people to their vibrant urban centers and walkable, bikeable neighborhoods.”

The Jan. 12 city council meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at Pensacola City Hall. For more information on Sustainable Gulf Coast/Pensacola 350, call 572-7230.
