New bill for Evers from NRA: Open carry

Our State Sen. Greg Evers loves gun bills and the NRA loves Evers. The Tampa Bay Times reports Marion Hammer, executive director of the NRA’s state lobbying organization, Unified Sportsmen of Florida, told it that the NRA will seek to pass a bill legalizing the open carrying of firearms in Florida during the 2013 session of the state Legislature. If passed, the bill would allow people to carry their pistols openly. Expect Evers to sponsor the bill.

The Wild West comes to Florida–holsters and guns on the streets, in bars, movie theaters and WalMarts. What could go wrong with that?

Every year, the NRA gives Evers a new gun bill to fight for and some other lawmaker finds a new way to tinker with FCAT and public education.
