Both Escambia County and the city of Pensacola are looking for people to serve on the newly formed Public Library Board of Governance for the West Florida Public Library System.
The volunteer board will be responsible for establishing policy, overseeing finances and approving the system’s annual budget. The board also oversees the library director.
Expected to begin work in March, the board will be comprised of five members. Three members will be selected by Escambia County, while the other two will be selected by the city of Pensacola.
Recently, the management of the library system transferred from the county to the city. A dedicated tax was also established in order to completely fund the library system.
Resumes and applications are available, respectively, from the city and county. Candidates interested in serving on behalf of the city must have their paperwork in by Feb. 15, while those interested in the county seats must have it in by Feb. 11.
