Well, it looks like Pensacola citizens will have an opportunity to keep things running the same. Another incumbent city councilman has pre-filed – Mike Wiggins.
I like Mike – he has tried to speak out on several issues, but at what point does an elected official say, “I’ve done all I can. It is time for new blood”? Mike has been on the city council since 1995.
I chose not to run for re-election on the Gulf Breeze City Council in 2006 – after 14 years. Gulf Breeze is doing fine – if not better – without me.
Maybe we should change all local offices to lifetime terms and forget about elections….and let’s reduce the salaries to a $1 a year.
