I worked hard to put together at set of guests that can talk on national, state and local issues. Cumulus didn’t let me know that I would be on the air until 2:30 p.m. this past Friday so I had to call in favors with my friends.
My goal is to bring people from all sides of the political spectrum – Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, Independent – and discuss their views.
I fully admit that I’m rusty. It has been five years since I hosted a radio show by myself. There will be miscues today, because I’ve had no time to practice or rehearse. Expect the unexpected.
Here are our guests for today (don’t worry they always won’t be this conservative):
Randall Lane – @RandallLane
Editor of Forbes Magazine, since 2011
This is his second stint at Forbes. Between 1991 and 1997, he was a Forbes reporter, staff writer, associate editor and Washington bureau chief. He has a bestseller – “The Zeroes: My Misadventures In the Decade Wall Street Went Insane.” Randall was also my editor at The Daily Beast when I covered the Billings murder case and the BP Oil Spill. He taught me so much about writing that I can never thank him enough.
Greg Evers – @gregevers
Republican State Senator that represents District 2, which includes Escambia, Santa Rosa, and the northern half of Okaloosa counties. He previously served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives. In mid-2001, Evers won a special election to fill the seat being vacated by Congressman Jeff Miller as a member of the Florida House. He chairs the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. Fierce advocate of the Second Amendment and beloved by the NRA.
Mary Kissel, Editorial board member, The Wall Street Journal. – @marykissel
Mary also hosts OpinionJournal on WSJ Live. From 2005 to 2010, she was editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal Asia, based in Hong Kong. Mary has a master’s degree in international affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a bachelor’s in government from Harvard University. She is a native of south Florida. Mary and I met when she was co-hosting The John Bachelor Show, which airs on this station in the evenings. She was smart, quick-witted and a great interviewer in own right.
Rick Wilson – @TheRickWilson
The owner of Florida-based political consulting firm Intrepid Media. If you don’t know Rick Wilson, then you aren’t a player on the Republican scene. As one Tallahassee insider told me, Rick is a “big freaking deal Republican operative and strategist on a national scale.†Rick is routinely called upon by major news networks and newspapers to weigh in on the political topics of the day. His twitter feed is not for the faint of heart, particularly if you are a liberal.
Andrew Rothfeder
Partner, Studer Community Development Group. He has 25 years of commercial and real estate experience as an owner, asset manager, developer, and end-user, primarily in shopping centers, mixed-use and residential condomimiums. He has a BBA from Emory University and MBA from Wharton School of Business. Andrew is key player in the team Rishy and Quint Studer have put together to revitalize downtown Pensacola.
The show airs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on WCOA FM 100.7. You can listen online at Wcoapensacola.com or on iheartRadio. You follow us on Twitter @inyourheadradio and like our page of Facebook.
We will try taking callers in between the interviews – Call 888-476-1007.
