Quote of the day

According to PNJ, from Escambia County Commission Chairman Mike Whitehead:

I am not ashamed of the fact that I take money from anybody and everybody, and a campaign contribution does not translate into a favorable decision for them. Giving $500 doesn’t buy anything, and Cody knows that.

The PNJ picked up the story that I posted on the blog yesterday ( Roads Inc. president sues county, raises funds for commissioner).

I don’t know whether to laugh or get angry. There is such arrogance in a segment of our local governments that is like a cancer.

Rusty Wells’ appointment as City Attorney; 2-2 vote on countywide recycling; $13M per year on city pensions; Whitehead/Rawson fundraiser; ECSO $70M+ budget; Bergosh/Godzilla….the list goes on and on.

This must change. We’ve got to elect better people.
