Think Beyond Pensacola hosts at 6 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 13 a forum on two reports that were released this summer on this area’s quality of life.
The forum, titled “Moving Pensacola Forward – What Gets Measured Gets Improved,” will be held at the Pensacola Museum of Art, with refreshments and social time beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Rick Harper and Reggie Dogan of Studer Institute will speak about their Pensacola Metro Report -a series of articles and charts on statistics of various quality of life areas and offered insights on how Pensacola compared with peer cities. John Fifer will share the Pensacola Young Professionals’ Quality of Life report -an annual survey, conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling, of the attitudes of voters of Pensacola and Escambia County.
More information on the forum is available on the event Facebook page.
There has been a third study of the city of Pensacola, Pensacola Community Survey 2014, that was done by the UWF HAAS Center for Mayor Ashton Hayward. It was given to the city on October 1, but has not been released yet by Mayor Hayward. It measured how Pensacola residents feel about city government services and its performance. Here is a copy that we received via a public record request – 2014.10.01_Pensacola_Community_Survey__2014_-_Final_Draft.
Studer Institute looked a quantitative statistics. PYP gathered the attitudes and perceptions of voters – countywide. The City of Pensacola went deeper than PYP –gathered information for a much broader sample of city residents – not just voters – and tied it to city government performance.
Once the mayor’s office releases its report and tells us how it plans to use the information to improve city performance, we will have a fuller picture of how to move Pensacola forward – with public and private sectors, citizens and city employees all working together.
