DeSorbo denies he has a city pension

At the recent luncheon of the Escambia Rpeublican Women, Councilman Mike DeSorbo denied that he had a city pension for being a city councilman. Unfortunately for him, C.C. Elebash was at the meeting. Elebash fired off an email to City Finance Director Dick Barker. Here is the exchange:

Dick: Thanks for the information.I have several additional questions:

1) What is the current salary of Council Members and the Mayor?
2) What additional percent of their salaries is paid into the FRS? ( I assume employees do not contribute to the FRS.)
3) Are Council Members automatically enrolled in the FRS? I.E., may they elect not to participate? If so, how many members of the present Council have elected not to participate?

Thank you again. C. C. Elebash

The annual salary for the mayor is $23,337.60.
The annual salary for a council member is $13,998.40.
The contribution rate for FRS is 16.53%.
All council members are participants in FRS, it is not optional.

…..Oops, it appears DeSorbo misspoke
