Escambia County Tax Collector Janet Holley has filed suit in Atlanta, Georgia alleging the previous owners of the Skyview Atlanta Ferris wheel owe back taxes.
The Ferris wheel is owned by a company in Europe, which leases it to operators in different cities.
The group that ran it in Pensacola dissolved after the wheel moved to Atlanta in 2013. However, the debt stays with the wheel, regardless who is operating it.
In the lawsuit, Holley claims the delinquent tax debt is $237,000, including $100,000 in interest and penalties. She wants the Skyview Atlanta Ferris wheel seized and sold.
The case is set for a jury trial in Fulton County in July.
