For half a month, Inweekly has tried to get the City of Pensacola to release information on its random drug testing (Read more). City Attorney Lysia Bowling has refused to comply.
Today, former City Councilwoman Maren Deweese posted on her blog a similar request that the City replied to —and the city admitted that it has no record of random drug testing done at the Pensacola Police Department from January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2015.
If the City answered that request from February 2016, why did not answer our requests?
Deweese has speculated on her blog that she believes City Administrator Eric Olson knows the outcome of the Beggs & Lane investigation of the two fire chiefs and doesn’t want any publicity until after tonight’s council meeting.
If the city replied truthfully to request on her blog, then it would appear the City Administrator Olson and Sisson targeted Deputy Fire Chief Joe Glover for drug testing. This would not be the first time that Olson targeted an individual.
This past summer, he called the employer of North Hill Preservation Association president Melanie Nichols after she began to question the legality of Divine Word radio tower in the Long Hollow Conservation District.
Glover files an EEOC complaint and Olson orders a drug test.
What the heck is going on at City Hall?
