With two House seats opened up in Northwest Florida, Republicans Jayer Williamson and Frank White have quickly moved to raise campaign cash, newly filed finance reports show.
Williamson, a Santa Rosa County commissioner, raised $42,470 last month for his bid to succeed Rep. Doug Broxson, R-Gulf Breeze, in House District 3, which includes parts of Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties. Williamson had nearly $68,000 in cash on hand as of April 30. Navarre Republican Johnathan Huston Walters entered the District 3 race on April 26 and did not report raising any money during the final days of the month.
In nearby House District 2, Pensacola Republican Frank White raised $39,850 in April, bringing his overall contribution total to $101,820, the reports show. White also has loaned $50,000 to his campaign and had spent only $259 as of April 30. White is running in District 2 against Pensacola Democrat Raymond Guillory, who had raised a total of $1,927 through April 30 and spent $693. White and Guillory are seeking to succeed Rep. Mike Hill, R-Pensacola Beach, in District 2, which includes parts of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
The House seats became open when Hill and Broxson decided to run for a state Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Greg Evers, R-Baker. Evers announced last month he was running for Congress.
