City cuts back on fire

In the Winners & Losers of the current issue, we have a quiz that states the City of Pensacola hasn’t had any employee layoffs. Our sources inside the Pensacola Fire Department say that’s not entirely true.

According to them, “the Fire department lost 8 jobs in the past year. One rescue truck in off duty permanently and another rescue truck is off duty most of the time. R-36 on Summit is off duty and R-32 on Davis is off duty most of the time and possibly off duty permenantly soon. All this is happening at the same time that the city is working on a mutual aid agreement for City trucks to run as first due trucks in the county. This includes rescue calls.”
