Myers also questions wisdom of downtown fish hatchery

Councilwoman Sherri Myers replied to Quint Studer’s letter regarding the wisdom of locating a fish hatchery on Bruce Beach.

“I did not support the location of the fish hatchery on Bruce Beach for many of the reasons you have stated,” she told Studer. “I researched and tried to find another downtown area in the United States with a fish hatchery in the middle of the downtown. I could not find one.”

Myers said she plans to place the hatchery on the agenda for the November council meeting.

“Based on my reading of the lease, I believe the present contract to be void,” she said. “I have not asked for an independent legal opinion on this. But, even if the contract is not void, I believe we should renegotiated this project and relocate it to another location.”

  1. Nobody will pay to clean up Bruce Beach and it’s located in a swamp which can not be moved because it is the designated mitigation area for the Maritime Park project. To boot the neighboring property is an industrial area.
