Flora-bama objects to MTV’s ‘Floribama Shore’

THE FLORA-BAMA’S RESPONSE TO MTV SHOW FLORIBAMA SHORE:

For 53 years, THE Flora-Bama has been slinging drinks, tossing mullets, entertaining people from around the world, and hosting live music.

Hunkered down smack in the middle of the Florida/Alabama state line, THE Flora-Bama has survived a fire, several hurricanes, bad economies, and the worst oil spill in our nation’s history.

Yet, we’ve recently learned that MTV and Viacom are using our name and reputation to promote their latest “reality” series, after approaching us in 2013 about the same. We’ve asked them to stop. They’ve refused. As made clear by the CMT documentary that Viacom aired on THE Flora-Bama in 2014 to millions, there is only ONE Flora-Bama.

Maybe they will listen to you…

  1. Oh come on, guys! Floriabama is a centuries old nickname for the region surrounding the line between the two states. Claiming it as your own is nonsense, like someone trying to claim Big Bend is theirs and nobody else can use it. You might want to note that MTV spells it within a hyphen while the lounge uses one. I hate to break it to you but the Flori-Bama Lounge is not that famous outside of the area so I hardly think MTV and Viacom would purposefully use it. I can just hear someone in Seattle saying “Oh my, Floribama Shores must be set at that world famous bar outside Pensacola!” This series could be a financial boon for the area AND your business will share in the increased revenue coming into the area.
